Kenya's Kifaru Exim SEZ: A Game-Changer for SMEs
In a significant move to bolster its industrial landscape, Kenya has inaugurated the Kifaru Exim Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Tatu City, situated about 20 kilometers north of Nairobi. This new hub aims to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs), expand exports, and create much-needed jobs for the local population.

The Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA) reports that the Kifaru Exim SEZ will not only provide over 600 direct jobs but also has the potential to generate approximately 1,800 indirect jobs. Victor Mageto, SEZA's Acting Director General, emphasized the goal to "unlock SME manufacturing, boost exports, and create wealth," highlighting the strategic importance of this industrial development.

The SEZ spans 10,165 square meters and includes nine advanced warehouses tailored to meet the needs of SMEs. With reliable resources such as power and water, efficient logistics, and simplified administrative processes, Tatu City aims to facilitate seamless entry into export markets. Government officials, including Abubakar Hassan Abubakar from the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry (MITI), reiterated the importance of fostering private investment.
